Block Club Chicago

Block Club Chicago is a nonprofit news organization dedicated to delivering reliable, nonpartisan and essential coverage of Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods. They call themselves the Block Club because it reflects their mission: to build community through truly ground-level reporting of the city’s neighborhoods. When looking to get inspired to design this logo I rooted myself in the ideas of diverse neighborhoods and actual block club signage within Chicago. I took a step back and looked at vintage and everlasting block club signs for inspiration. With a mix of handwritten script and bold, organic typography, a welcoming logo capturing the spirit of Chicago was born.
